Not too long ago in 2001 Blockbuster was an industry giant. It seemed like they owned everything when it came to home entertainment and no one expected the unassuming startups called Netflix and Redbox to make a dent. Fast forward to today: Netflix and Redbox have singlehandedly dominated the market driving Blockbuster stores to close their doors left and right.

Another example that illistrates the exact market shift SOC is causing is Barnes & Noble vs Amazon.com.  Barnes & Noble is valued today at a fifth of what they were a few years ago and the company is recently up for sale for $1billion. Amazon.com is valued at over 50 times that and growing daily!
